All Done!

The Paralympics were amazing and I hope everyone has already heard that Monte was nominated to carry the flag at the closing ceremony. He was so honored and Irene,Susie, Jodi and I loved watching him enter the closing ceremony with the flag. He ran over and gave me a kiss during the parade. It was awesome! Monte and I are on road trip at the moment. We have a few days left and are going to visit his good friend Clay and his wife and new baby in Portland.

I am so thankful for all the support he has had from all of you. THANK YOU SO MUCH!He has truly had a awesome career and we are looking forward to the future!

Overdue update... sorry

Sorry it has been a couple of busy days! What can I say... downhill was crazy. Monte had to wait until 3:30 to race on Thursday, so the conditions had really changed. They ran all the woman first then the men. There were a ton of wrecks and course delays... so it was a long day. Monte finished (which was awesome considering all the issues) but it wasn't his best showing. That's racing :) Today was Super G! The weather has been beautiful and before the race, Monte sent me a text that said it's a fast course... Giddy Up! They decided to run the men first since they had to wait so long yesterday. He was aggressive and did an awesome job. The results were not what he wanted, but he really did race well. No matter where he ends up on the board, he is definitely the cutest one out there!

Kristen, Jeff, Mindy and I enjoyed a day of skiing after the race and even took a few runs with Monte. It is so amazing here! Jack, Irene, Marge, Susie, Jodi and Nick did some shopping and took the Peak to Peak gondola.

Tomorrow is the last day of Monte's Paraylmpic career racing in the Super Combined. He is the only US athlete competing! We are so excited to cheer him on! We will yell for all of his fans at home and we will be celebrating tomorrow night! Hope Whistler is ready for the Monturage :)

Slalom

Monte rocked it yesterday at the slalom! Hopefully, you were able to see it on the website. He was the top US athelete finishing in 8th. The crowd was awesome and the stands were full. We lucked out with the weather and enjoyed cheering on the US! He has a couple of days off and will train tomorrow to get ready for downhill on Thursday. Kristen arrived last night and moma will be leaving in the morning. I will be picking Susie up tomorrow and the rest of the gang will arrive on Thursday. It's raining today, but is supposed to clear up in the next couple of days. The Monturage has been in full force and recognized by many! Thanks for all the support and cheers!

We made it!

We are in Whistler! We drove all the way to Bellingham last night and actually made it acrossed the border this morning. Monte is doing well and is excited to RACE tomorrow. The schedule has changed because of the weather and he will be racing slalom tomorrow. Irene, Jack and Marge have been working on our ticket issue. Since everything has changed, our tickets have been a major concern. Whistler is beautiful and we are really excited to relax and enjoy the Paralympics. The Monturage will be in full force tomorrow! See the schedule for changes.

GO MONTE!

The Paralympics are here!

The Opening Ceremonies are tonight! I can't believe it's here! Monte has been on the snow for the last two days, but they have not been able to train due to weather. They are calling for a ton of snow. He said last night when it was snowing it was the biggest snowflakes he's ever seen. Irene, Jack, and Marge are in Vancouver and will be at the Opening tonight. Monte is looking forward to seeing them and getting the games started. Moma and I will be leaving bright and early in the morning. GO USA!!

Team Captain and tv coverage

Monte did some free skiing yesterday(Tuesday) and will be on the snow today for the first down hill training run. He's feeling good and ready to train. On Monday, the team nominated him and Allison Jones as the team captains! He was then nominated to carry the flag in the opening ceremonies. Two others were nominated as well. All of the teams(alpine, nordic, curling, sledge hockey) have to vote and choose one person. The other two alpine athletes that were nominated were Allison Jones and first time Paralympian,Heath. Monte decided to take his name off the list, so the alpine team would have a better chance of getting to carry the flag. What an honor to be nominated!
More info on media coverage. NBC will be broadcasting the Opening Ceremonies this Saturday, 3/13 at 1pm EST. You can see the rest of the Paralympic coverage on Universal Sports 3/15-3/23 at 7pm EST.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Monte is settled in and lucked out getting his own room! He spent the day checking out the facilities, going up to the race finish, and got a massage. Sounds like a good day to me :) Tomorrow will be his first day on the snow and the start of Jack and Irene's trip. 4 days until Opening Ceremonies!!
